CANON / ORIGIN

Book 04 — Prometheus: Construction & Instruments

Prometheus is the canonical archetype of toolmaking: measurement, fabrication, calibration, and the disciplined conversion of intent into repeatable capability.

Canonical Role

  • Construction: turning structure into usable systems (constraints that hold).
  • Instruments: extending perception (measurement that stays stable under noise).
  • Craft: repeatability, tolerances, and calibration as ethics.

Operator Emphasis

Prometheus is primarily Structure (constraint + coherence) with strong Ground (reference + measurement). Dynamics exists as iteration; Emergence exists as invention—but both must remain instrumented.

Failure Modes

  • Uninstrumented novelty: invention without calibration → drift.
  • Tool worship: instrument becomes identity → lost intent.
  • Rigid construction: constraints harden → fragility under real pressure.
